Mayor's Kids' Day - Registration Now Open
The City of Pembroke Pines 16th Annual Mayor’s Kids' Day, hosted by Mayor Angelo Castillo, is being held on Friday, June 20. This fun-filled day, presented by Baptist Health, takes place throughout the city for Pembroke Pines residents, only ages 15 and under. Each child needs a wristband from the Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. Preregistration in person, until June 19, is required with proof of residency to receive this free wristband. The event kicks off with “LUNCH with the Mayor” 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. at Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way, with celebrity Mascots and a special theme character show with "Hula Lessons," before all participants venture off. Children must wear their wristbands all day on June 20 while visiting the local businesses for a discount or free samples, prizes, and surprises.

FREE Health and Safety Program One City at a Time Kickoff Event
The Pembroke Pines Fire and Rescue Department is holding a free event for all ages on Saturday, June 21 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Charles F. Dodge City Center in partnership with Memorial Healthcare System’s “One City at a Time” Kickoff event. In addition to health and safety info and training being offered by the City, the event will introduce Pembroke Pines residents to free, health-related resources and services that will be available throughout the year via Memorial’s “One City at a Time” program. Families, friends and children of all ages are welcome to attend. No tickets are required.
There will be free sessions held every 30 minutes regarding CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, Stroke/Heart Attack signs and symptoms awareness info; and the launch of a “Save the Brain” initiative in partnership with the Pembroke Pines Fire Department. The “One City at a Time” kickoff event will include free hot lunches, games for the kids, music, fun activities, food distribution for the first 300 families, mobile units on site for health screenings, nutritional counseling, access to primary care physicians, and so much more. Following this event, Memorial Healthcare System will have its pediatric and adult mobile teams at different locations throughout Pembroke Pines two days a week for eight weeks with no appointment being necessary and all services being free of charge.
Caribbean-American Heritage Festival

The City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, with support from the Broward County Cultural Division, is hosting a Caribbean-American Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 28 from 7 to 11 pm at the Charles F. Dodge City Center. This free and family-friendly event will feature live Reggae Soca, Kompa and Steel-Pan music, performances, Caribbean Delights - a showcase of food and goods, and interactive workshops and activities at The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery.

The Carl Shechter Southwest Focal point Community Center at 301 NW 103 Ave., has created an in-person assistance program for Veterans which will be held twice a month -- every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 9 am to 4 pm in Room 198.
